A Short Stay in Hell by Steven L. Peck — Numbered Edition

$575.00

Imagine spending eternity searching for a single book in a library without end.

Steven L. Peck’s A Short Stay in Hell is a haunting, philosophical novella about the nature of eternity, the limits of human understanding, and the quiet terror of an impossible search. When Soren Johansson dies, he discovers that his afterlife is a vast library containing every possible book. Somewhere among its seemingly infinite shelves lies the one volume that holds the key to his escape: the story of his own life.

For this special Hatteras Path publication, the novella features a new foreword by Tyler Jones, a new afterword by Steven L. Peck, and six original color illustrations by Grace Aldrich.

The Numbered Edition

The Numbered Edition brings together traditional printing and binding techniques with a distinctive two-tone, clothbound design. Bound in maroon Dubletta linen cloth, the book features gold foil blocking and a debossed front board showcasing an illustration of the Proficient Demon by Grace Aldrich. The coordinating slipcase continues the design with a debossed area showcasing a two-color label. Both the artwork and label are printed letterpress on Bugra Archive paper.

Inside, the text is printed letterpress on Neenah Cotton paper, with typography designed in Warnock Pro and Crimson Pro. Six original illustrations by Grace Aldrich accompany the text, while the two-color title page pairs black and metallic gold ink.

Limited to 250 copies, the Numbered Edition offers collectors a beautifully crafted interpretation of this extraordinary novella, bringing together fine materials, traditional production methods, and original artwork.

Each copy is signed by Steven L. Peck, Tyler Jones, and Grace Aldrich. Every book is hand-numbered and includes matching rights to the Numbered Edition of Heavy Oceans by Tyler Jones.

The estimated delivery will begin in January 2027.
