Hatteras Path is a independent, North Carolina–based fine press devoted to creating beautiful, collectible books.
The goal is to publish four titles each year, with a new release every quarter. Each title will be produced in limited editions and will feature its own combination of artists, printers, binders, and other collaborators. All will reflect the press's commitment to making books that are meant to be treasured.
The membership is designed with collectors in mind. Rather than offering a complicated hierarchy of tiers, the membership is intentionally simple.

Membership provides priority access to new books, opportunities to acquire scarce and unusual press materials, a voice in the projects pursued by the press, and direct access to the publisher behind the books.
Most importantly, membership provides meaningful support as Hatteras Path grows into a lasting fine press.

Every title will have three purchasing windows:
First: Rights Holders
Second: Members
Third: General Public
Hatteras Path will follow a traditional rights system for numbered and lettered editions. If a customer purchases a numbered or lettered edition, they will be given first access to purchase the next quarter’s book. However, not every title is for every customer and some rights holders may decide not to purchase the next title.
As a member, you will have the opportunity to purchase unclaimed copies of new titles before they are offered to the general public.
For collectors, this distinction matters. Our editions are limited, and some titles may sell quickly. The goal is to ensure that a collector who has supported Hatteras Path for years—and invested hundreds or even thousands of dollars in Hatteras Path books—doesn't miss out on a title simply because they were unable to purchase during the public sale.
A membership gives you continued priority access to unclaimed copies of every Hatteras Path title released during your membership.
This gives dedicated collectors a fair opportunity to continue building their collections with Hatteras Path, while recognizing that particularly popular editions may sell out during the rights-holder purchasing window.
Priority Access to New Books
Each month, giveaways will be held exclusively for members.
Giveaways may include prints, books, ARCs, unbound book blocks, broadsides, short stories, press ephemera, discount codes, and other surprises from Hatteras Path.
The number and type of items will vary from month to month, but there will always be something new to look forward to.
Monthly Giveaways
Members with a long-standing history of supporting Hatteras Path will occasionally be eligible for special Loyalty Giveaways.
These giveaways will be reserved for a smaller pool of our longest-supporting members and may include numbered or lettered editions, original artwork, one-of-a-kind bindings, and other fine press books and objects.
The goal is simple: to reward loyalty, not spending. Everyone receives the same membership benefits, while those who choose to remain part of the Hatteras Path community over the long term will have additional opportunities to receive something truly special.

Help Shape Future Projects
Hatteras Path is intended to be a collector-driven press.
From time to time, members will be invited to vote on potential future projects. These polls may help gauge interest in prospective titles, authors, artists, formats, or other projects.
Only members will have a vote.
Your voice will help shape the future of Hatteras Path.
Members will receive early access to major Hatteras Path announcements.
New titles, collaborations, production updates, special projects, and other major news will be announced to members before being shared publicly whenever possible.
You'll hear it here first.
First Look
Some titles may be especially difficult to acquire, particularly when demand exceeds the number of copies available.
For highly sought-after titles, after the rights-holder purchasing window closes, any remaining copies will be offered through a members-only lottery.
Every member will have an equal opportunity to enter the lottery, giving the community a fair chance to acquire an edition before any remaining copies are made available to the general public.
This allows the press to offer its most limited editions to collectors in a way that is fair, transparent, and not dependent on who happens to be online the moment a sale opens.
Lotteries
The press will periodically offer books with minor flaws, remaining printer's copies, publisher's copies, and other surplus materials exclusively to members at deeply reduced prices.
These books will provide members with another opportunity to add Hatteras Path books and materials to their collections.
Scratch-and-Dent & Publisher Copies
The membership program will include a private members-only chat room, providing a place for members to interact with one another and have direct access to the publisher.
As the press grows, the hope is that this space becomes a community of collectors.
Private Community & Direct Access
Every book made by Hatteras Path represents an enormous amount of work from artists, writers, printers, binders, and designers.
